Crimes against Trees

Well, look at the new approach to 276 KMR.

Welcome to our new telephone pole landscaping job.  They took down 5 black cherry trees to create this  beautiful effect.  One was about a 12" diameter trunk.

Its an excellent example of landscaping by subtraction.  By removing the black cherry trees they were able to emphasize the vertical element and artifical aspects of the pole.  The yellow support is a particularly skillful use of color.  What an excellent idea for improving the approach to our home, providing a transition from the impermeable paved surface, through the "gate" created by the power lines into our property.  It aids in the relaxation of visitors, and family members coming home.

Many arborists would envy the half lollipop tree that they left behind.  It is clearly a unique specimen.  It reminds me of a espalier gone wild.  I believe these gentlemen were so excited about the creation of landscape innovation that they forgot to clean up after themselves.  How kind of them to leave us the wood.

I especially like the diagonal yellow line...but then you all know that I LOVE any color but brown or white this time of year!

I like the fantastic wood sculpture in our neighbors yard!

Now that the snow has melted - the full effect of this landscape horror has been revealed!
I need some free consultation from my landscape team!
There is beer, wine and vodka soda available for any takers!

Horror? Go back and take another look.

The beauty of the distint view is only complimented by what I call a "frame." The power lines above and the road below keep you from being drawn into what would otherwise be an unwieldy glimpse into infinity. The poles/trees of course center our view to one focal point on the far off horizon.

It could only be improved with the addition of few peices of sculpture. Bravo!

Consider yourself lucky, my view of my house is contaminated by dog doo and used conteceptives on the sidewalk.

OMT I like the sculpture idea - I knew I needed a consultation. Perhaps we should mosaic the telephone pole in tempered glass, and create an inset in which I could place a little boy peeing.
